Elevator Pitch No. 3

Elevator Pitch

Attached is a link to my third elevator pitch. Any feedback is appreciated.

Reflection on Feedback

Since last pitch, I received only two comments, and I think that they were both very helpful. Both had to do with how I present my pitch which didn't really surprise me because I received that feedback for my last pitch. Both Ashley and Tracie emphasized that I need to do a better job memorizing my pitch so I can "speak from the heart". I think all of the feedback I received was great, and I think that it has really improved my elevator pitch.

What I Changed

The main thing that I changed was that I spent more time trying to memorize my pitch. In the other two pitches, I would write it/revise it, then spend 15 or 20 minutes trying to memorize it. This time, I spent close to an hour trying to memorize it . Hopefully, this will make it where I don't mess up as often. Also, last time, I would redo my pitch if I felt I messed up somewhere. This time, I tried to do as few takes as possible. I did make a few mistakes but I tried to run with it when I did make a mistake. In all, I think that I have my pitch memorized for the most part, there are still a few parts that I get stumped on. As far as being comfortable in front of the camera, I'm not really that comfortable. In all honesty, I don't think I'll ever be that comfortable in front of the camera. I don't know what it is about a camera that makes me feel uncomfortable because I feel like I am a pretty good public speaker when I'm not in front of a camera. Finally, I think all of the feedback I have received over these last few pitches have been very helpful, and I think it has turned out great.

  1. Hi Will!
I was so excited to watch this again and see how you incorporated the comments from last time! And let me say, you didn't disappoint! I loved how you spent much more time memorizing your pitch this time so that you could add emphasis and more facial expressions while delivering it! I also really liked how much information you were able to deliver in such a short amount of time! Overall you did an amazing job, and I have really enjoyed watching your pitch develop into something great!

  2. Hey Will,

You seemed so much more comfortable this time with your pitch. I really have enjoyed watching your changes and seeing you really try to incorporate the feedback you have received. I did believe in you this time around- believed that you were the expert for Easy Presence and I would feel comfortable giving you my business. So great Job on the pitch. So tips for getting comfortable in front of the camera- one thing I did in the past was covering the screen completely so that my eye was only on the camera, I've also used props as my audience (like a stuffed animal, a plant, anything really) and acted as if I was live in front of it to get my mind off the camera. I am not sure what program you use to record- but a basic program like quicktime gives you the ability to trim from the front and back- I always give myself about 5 seconds after I hit record to "get ready". I also hold my last pose for about 5 seconds before I stop recording- this way I can trim the parts where I am starting and stopping the recording and I can start with a smile- super important for confidence in recording. Good luck on future recording projects for other classes.

  3. Hi Will,

I can tell you worked hard on this third pitch and put a ton of effort into memorizing your pitch so you would be more comfortable. You did great! I liked that you shared a plan for revising your online presence down the line for clients to continue using your business. That will be key to continue growing the business so it doesn’t just cater to start up clients.

  4. Hi Will! I think it is very normal to be a little bit of camera shy. I am camera shy as well. I believe that social media is placing small businesses on the map. I have never seen an idea that strictly focuses on social media management for a business. I love the name of your employees as "Presence Managers" because it feels comfortable to the consumer who is beginning. The only thing that I would suggest is the name "Presence Managers" is warm. Still, as a consumer who could invest in this idea, the name "Presence Specialist" can be possibly slightly better because the consumer is receiving a service in a specialized field. I hope this helps! Great post!
